A 21st Century Happy Birthday to a 20th Century Mom

It all started in Morgan, Utah in the fall of 1913 when...

Henry Samuel fell in love

with Abigail Amanda (and who wouldn't)

and married her...

20 or so years and 12 children later...this was their family -- our Penny mom was the baby.

She was a favored little sister

a star piano student

a fun aunt

And then a missionary... (kind of) when in the late 1950s she accompanied Henry and Abigail on their second LDS Mission to Hawaii.

Ever heard of BYU Hawaii? Well, before it was called that, it was the Church College of Hawaii and our mom was in the first graduating class (4th from the right)...

and the first valedictorian.

Then there were the Brighton Years; finishing up at the University of Utah, ushering at Utah Symphony concerts and being a ski bum hanging around Henry and Abigail's Alpine Rose Lodge where she met...this stud

and then they fell in love...

12 or so years later...they had us.

And now she's a Grandma

but before that happened...she had to lose him in 1983 after only 21 short years together.

However, she is one of the most resilient gals we know, overcoming her loss, her cancer, and lots of ups and downs along the way. Happy Birthday! We love you even if you are still afraid of the internet.
