Our little adventure at Silver Lake in Brighton

From 1944-1954, my mother's parents owned and operated the Alpine Rose in Brighton. Mom and her 5 sisters worked as waitstaff, housekeeping and ski bums (where Mom met Dad who operated the Majestic lift).

Growing up, we headed to Brighton every Labor Day for homemade breakfast and rock exploration. Those are priceless memories for me.

My kids and I have visited Utah for 6 years now and this is the first year I got my act together and got them to Brighton. They need to know about the water treatment plant, power plant, the stairs, storm mountain, the s curve (close your eyes and it'll feel like you're driving in circles!), visual remnants of the avalanche on Argenta, and last but not least... Brighton (note the kids smiling with the mine remnants behind them in the shape of Mickey Mouse ears).
